Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt Printable for Kids

A Thanksgiving scavenger hunt is the rare activity that keeps kids genuinely busy without needing you to run it. This free printable Thanksgiving scavenger hunt works indoors or out, and the gratitude version turns the hunt into the meaning of the day. Print a stack and set it out while the turkey rests.

The Picture Hunt (for Little Ones)

For preschoolers and early readers, make a picture checklist: a pinecone, a red leaf, an orange gourd, a candle, a spoon, a napkin, a football, a pie. Hand them the card and a crayon and let them check items off as they find them around the house or yard. It's self-running and works for mixed ages if older kids help younger ones read the cards.

The Clue Hunt (for Older Kids)

For kids who can read, write rhyming clue cards — 'Where we keep the dishes white, find your next clue out of sight' (the cabinet) — and hide them in a chain that ends at a small prize. Five to eight clues is the sweet spot. It's a Thanksgiving game that eats thirty to forty-five minutes of the afternoon and burns off energy before the second helping of pie.

The Gratitude Hunt

A twist worth printing: instead of objects, the hunt is for things to be thankful for — 'find something someone made for you,' 'find something that makes you laugh,' 'find something older than you.' Kids write or draw what they find on the card. It turns a Thanksgiving activity into a gratitude activity and gives the table something to talk about later.
