Meaningful Gratitude Practices for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is, at its heart, a holiday about gratitude. These simple practices can help your gathering move beyond the meal and into the meaning.
The Gratitude Jar
Place a jar and slips of paper where guests can write something they're thankful for throughout the day. Read them aloud at the table — a moment that often becomes the most memorable part of the evening.
Go-Around Thanks
Before eating, invite each person to share one thing they are grateful for from the past year. Keep it brief and genuine; even children can participate.
Write a Letter
Encourage family members to write a short note of thanks to someone who shaped their year — and to deliver it. Gratitude expressed is gratitude multiplied.
Give Back Together
Volunteer as a group at a food bank or shelter, or donate what you would have spent on one dish. Service is one of the most powerful expressions of thanks.
